Best RUNAWAYS Classes Ranked (Update 1 Tier List)

RUNAWAYS class tier list for Update 1 — every class ranked S through C with reasoning, plus the buy order that works for solo runners and crews.

8/25/2026 Last updated: 8/25/2026

Not all RUNAWAYS classes cost what they’re worth — the most expensive one isn’t the best, and the 45k one might be. This tier list ranks the full roster (stats and loadouts in the class list) by what actually finishes runs: getting loot out, crossing state lines, and surviving the border. Rankings reflect the Update 1 beta window on 50-player servers.

The one-line logic: RUNAWAYS rewards leaving. Every tier placement here is downstream of one question — does this class help you get away with the bag?

S Tier

Smuggler — 45k

The best value purchase in the game, full stop. For the price of nine crowbars you get the joint-highest speed bonus in the roster (+20%), a Small Backpack from spawn, and a Crowbar that turns ATMs into income from minute one. The -10% melee penalty looks worse on paper than it plays — successful runs avoid fights instead of winning them. It performs early, mid, and late, which is unheard of for a cheap class.

Bounty Hunter — 300k

What Smuggler becomes with money behind it. The same +20% speed, a melee bonus instead of a penalty, and a Machete + Pistol + ammo kit that answers both ranges before you rob anything. The cleanest stat sheet in the game — no downside anywhere — and the default recommendation for any runner past the 300k line.

Breacher — 550k

The vault specialist. C4 from spawn removes the biggest bottleneck on high-value targets, the Medium Backpack carries the payout, the Shotgun covers the room you’re standing in, and +40% melee — the largest melee bonus in the game — has no attached speed or health cost. Expensive, but nothing else bundles storage, a gun, ammo, and explosives.

A Tier

Juggernaut — 850k

The most expensive class, ranked below cheaper ones, and the reason this list exists. Doubling your health while spawning Light Armor, a Minigun, ammo, and a Medium Backpack makes Juggernaut immovable — but -20% run speed is the largest mobility penalty in the roster, in a game that constantly asks you to leave. For coordinated crews, dangerous holds, and the border fight specifically, it’s elite. As a general-purpose pick, it’s a tank in a sprint event.

Gang Member — 170k

The best mid-price generalist. MAC + Light Bullet Pack + Small Backpack + Blue Cow at spawn is nearly a complete kit for 170k, and +10% speed against -5% health is a mild trade. Bounty Hunter eventually replaces it — but it covers most of that ground for just over half the price.

Medic — 120k

Crew support, done right: two Medic Bags, Light Armor, a Medic Pack, and +20% health. In a group hold at the border, Medic is the difference between three survivors and one. Solo speed-runners should spend the 120k elsewhere.

B Tier

Contractor — 70k

A solid bridge into armed play — Mace, Pistol, and ammo cover both ranges for a reasonable price. It loses long-term relevance the moment Bounty Hunter is reachable: same melee bonus, dramatically better mobility.

Scout — 35k

+10% speed and a Small Backpack for 35k sounds fine until the -20% health penalty registers. Smuggler costs 10k more, doubles the speed bonus, and removes the health loss entirely. Unless that 10k is genuinely out of reach, waiting is the better call.

Old CEO — 40k

The meme that works once: spawn wearing ~$2,400 of jewelry, sell it, and play the rest of the run with -15% health and -5% speed. Fun as a challenge; strictly worse than Smuggler five doors down in the same menu.

C Tier

Brawler — 25k

+5% melee for -10% speed is the worst trade on the board — a small combat bonus for a permanent mobility loss, plus a Knuckle-only loadout. The 25k is better saved toward Smuggler.

FAQ

Is Juggernaut worth 850k?

Only for a specific job: coordinated crew robberies and the border fight, where +100% health is the strongest survivability stat in the game. As an everyday class, the -20% speed penalty costs more runs than the health pool saves.

Is Smuggler really better than classes that cost 10x more?

For the money, unquestionably — it holds the joint-best speed bonus in the roster. Bounty Hunter is the better class; Smuggler is the better purchase.

What’s the best class for solo players?

Smuggler first, Bounty Hunter the moment 300k clears. Both maximize the stat that ends runs fastest: getting away.

What’s the best class for the border fight?

Juggernaut, followed by Medic in a crew. The two-minute survival window rewards health and sustain over speed — the only place in the game where that’s true. Kit and tactics: border fight guide.

Do tier lists change with updates?

Yes — RUNAWAYS is in beta, and class prices and stat values have been retuned between patches. Verify prices at the Class NPC before committing, and check back here after each update; the raw data lives in the class list.
